Bryce Miller was a reliable weapon for the Seattle Mariners last season, going 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA.

This season has not gone nearly as well, as Miller has been battling elbow injuries and is currently on the IL. Mariners fans and fantasy baseball managers are now wondering when Miller will be back and return to Seattle's pitching rotation. Below, we will deliver an injury update on Miller, and dish out a likely return date.

🚑 When will Bryce Miller return and be back with Mariners?

Miller has not been able to get his elbow right, as he's now endured two separate stints on the IL this season. He spent 20 days on the IL in May, and then the hurler struggled in two outings upon returning.

The starter has a bone spur in his pitching elbow and received a platelet-rich plasma injection on June 10. Season-ending surgery was a possibility for Miller, but it looks like he'll give it one more shot at returning this season.

“The conversations about surgery or no surgery, that’s between the player and the doctor,” Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said, via Seattle Sports. “The Mariners don’t really get involved in that. The order of operation is Bryce sees our doctors and they make a recommendation, … and then they tell us what they decide.

“So in Dr. [Keith] Meister’s estimation, and in our doctors’ estimation, the PRP was the better way to go.”

Assuming the platelet-rich plasma injection works for Miller, we can expect him to be back in five-to-six weeks. That timeline coincides with the start of the second half of the season for the Mariners. Here is a look at Seattle’s schedule around that time.

  • Friday, July 18: Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners
  • Saturday, July 19: Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners
  • Sunday, July 20: Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners
  • Monday, July 21: Milwaukee Brewers at Seattle Mariners
  • Tuesday, July 22: Milwaukee Brewers at Seattle Mariners
  • Wednesday, July 23: Milwaukee Brewers at Seattle Mariners
  • Thursday, July 24: Seattle Mariners at LA Angels

⏳ How long will Bryce Miller be out for?

Miller has already been out 12 days. When he landed on the IL for the second time this season, it was projected the righty would be out around 6 weeks.

He missed just 20 days between starts during his first stint on the IL this season. The Mariners are determined to get the 26-year-old fully healthy before bringing him back.

Miller is also battling a bone spur in his right elbow and has been enduring discomfort related to that all season. After receiving a PRP injection, pain relief goes away in three-to-four weeks.

If all goes well, expect Miller to start ramping up in pursuit of a return in early July.

Miller is 2-5 this season with a 5.73 ERA.
